The way that we mend
Lately you’ve been all blue sky And I’ve been rain I don’t mean to bust up your party With all of my pain But sometimes my shadows surround me And you take me in your arms and say It’s the way we mend We tear it all down and we’ll start it again And I don’t know how but you find me where we begin And that’s just the way, the way that we mend It’s just that some voices remind me I’m not strong...

leaving before long.
Life. It’s been pretty rough lately, as far as “rough” goes for me.  Tomorrow at 6:15, I am getting on a plane to fly to Georgia.  I’ll be attending Passion, 2011. It’s a major Christian Conference for young adults. I just need to get away. I am so tired. so. tired.

Why?
Why do we, who are born into the faith, born into privileged American culture, find it so hard to resist temptation, when our brothers and sisters across the world face gladly death, all for the sake of the Cross?

Mary's Bravery.
In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might...

What Africa needs.
You know that song? “Do They Know It’s Christmas” by Band Aid? And there won’t be snow in Africa this christmas time  The greatest gift they’ll get this year is life  Where nothing ever grows  No rain or rivers flow  Do they know it’s christmas time at all?  This song raised millions in aid, and carved a place in music history. The intent was to raise...

Something that ticks me off.
I know that men are by far more sexual creatures, but what annoys me is how men, if they were to say…have a poster of Meghan Fox, or some other pretty young celebrity, entirely clothed, on their wall, people will judge them for it. And yet, girls and women can post on facebook, reblog on tumblr, or keep in their residence entirely sexual and scintillating pictures of shirtless men, and...

First Offense.
Last week, I answered a question from an anon, asking “What are some things that bother you?” At the time, I was too upset to answer this question, but now I can. Anon, here’s your long answer.  At the Grill I work at, our menus are chalkboards. I’m an artist, so they put me to executing the designs. Since it was coming up on Christmas, I sketched a night sky with a0...

Sick and tired.
I have had the stomach flu for the last two days, and it’s been rough. I am getting better, but I am still really weak and tired. When I was lying in bed, feverish and aching, a thought that was a great comfort to me was this: “This is nothing compared to what Christ suffered”. And that actually made me feel a great deal better.  Now that I am out of the bedroom/bathroom for...

How much longer?
How much longer will you hide the truth? How much longer will you sit in judgement over those who do not know God, meanwhile you secretly continue in sin? How much longer will you block your ears to the Lord’s calling? How much longer will you stifle the Holy Spirit’s flame within you? How much longer will you go to church, but go home and live the same? How much longer will you...

When I was young:
I thought that by the time I was 20, I would have it all figured out. Right now, I am 19.4 years old, and I still don’t have it figured out.  Most of the people I know who are over 20 STILL don’t have it figured out.

In the hill country of Judah.
In these days [the earliest days of her pregnancy] Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. Luke 1:39-40 (emphasis added) Perhaps you recognize these two verses as the introduction to the famous passage in which John The Baptist, already filled with the Holy Spirit, leaps in Elizabeth’s womb as Mary...

Putting Christ first in your life is so hard when you aren’t sure what is putting Him first and which isn’t. Which is Christ, supporting my family by going to my little brother’s Christmas Pageant, or leading a bible study?  I have two hours to decide. And I think that if I decide on Bible Study, my parents may kick me out.

WHY DO WE ALL HAVE TO GROW UP!?!?!
I just found some people on facebook, some sisters of a friend way-back-when. I remember how cute they were, so little and darling and blonde, in their teeny-tiny Uggs and their Hannah Anderson dresses, playing at ballet up and down the stairs. Laughing and shouting in their little lisps, “Thkyler, you are thooo thilly!” Now they are all grown up - wearing American Eagle, and makeup,...

Frankly.
I know that I talk about myself negatively, but it’s all in jest.  I just have really weird humor. Annddd….I don’t want this blog to be about myself. I don’t want it to be about my looks, or my positive traits, or my negative traits, apart from spirituality (not that anything CAN be apart from spirituality), but I guess my point is: Whether I am good-looking, or...

noflawinyou asked: If you talked about your friends' bodies the way you talk about yours, you wouldn't have any friends.

We are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. If we cannot see ourselves as beautiful, how are we to see our friends as beautiful and love them?

Hope that's some food for thought. No harsh tone intended in this, I say it lovingly. We all battle it....
